How to get your cycling club found in ChatGPT and Claude

By livedotUpdated 6 min read

The short answer

Apply for your club's page on Windline, fill in Get found on livedot (home area, weekly rides, beginners welcome, pace groups), then post and publish your group rides, tours and races. Riders who ask livedot in ChatGPT or Claude for a cycling club near them see yours with a Join button, and can ask about your tours and races by name.

Riders new to a town don't search club websites one by one any more. They ask: "Is there a Saturday coffee ride near Clapham?" "Which cycling club in Durban North is good for beginners?" This guide is for club captains and admins: what livedot can say about your club in ChatGPT and Claude, by place and by name, and the club page that makes both work. More for organisers in livedot's organiser guides.

What can ChatGPT and Claude find?

Your club near a place, and your published events by name. livedot is the app riders add in ChatGPT and Claude to ask about clubs, rides and races on Windline (setup at livedot.me/mcp). It answers from your club's public page, so what's on the page is what gets found.

Two panels. Ask by name: questions about a race by its name, which livedot answers from the public pages on Windline and RunFast. Ask by place: questions about clubs and events near a place, which livedot answers with a list, with Join or I'm in
How people find a club or race through livedot: by name and by place.
Someone asksWhat livedot needs on your page
"Beginner cycling group near [your suburb]"Your home area in Get found on livedot, and your weekly rides
"Group rides near [your suburb] this weekend"Published group rides with their route and start
"What's the route of [your tour]?"A published tour: every day with its distance, climbing, start and weather
"What should I pack for [your tour]?"Your tour notes: it answers in your words
"What's the wind for [your race] on Sunday?"A race on the page that starts in the next 14 days
"How's [your race] going?"The race, live on race day
"How are [your club] doing in [the race]?"Your members who chose to be findable, with their km and goal, on a map of just your club

To see real answers first, ask livedot for cycling clubs near where you live, or for group rides near you this weekend. While the apps run their demo, "How's the Coast Classic demo going?" shows a race any time.

What does a club in the list show?

Ask "beginner cycling group near Sandton" or "gravel club near Girona", and livedot lists the clubs near that place, nearest first, each with:

  • the club's name, logo and how far away it is;
  • its weekly rides, such as "Sat 06:00 from the Fourways Mall";
  • Beginners welcome and its pace groups, if the club sets them;
  • the next ride with its forecast, or the typical weather further out;
  • a Join button to your club's page, with sign-in or a free Windline account in the same step.

It all comes from Get found on livedot on your page in the Windline dashboard: home area, sports, sessions, Beginners welcome, pace groups and who the club is for. A club without a home area isn't listed by place. It lists clubs and their public rides only, never riders.

How do I get my cycling club found?

Start with the page, and fill it with rides you really run.

  1. Get your club's page

    Apply for a club page at windline.tech/pages/#apply. A person at Windline sets it up and emails you when it's ready, at windline.tech/c/your-club and livedot.me/your-club.

  2. Fill in Get found on livedot

    On your page in the Windline dashboard, open Get found on livedot: your home area, sports, Beginners welcome, pace groups, who it's for and your weekly sessions. This is what puts your club in answers for riders near you.

  3. Post your group rides

    Add the weekly ride and the one-offs with their route and start time, so every ride on the page has its wind forecast.

  4. Add tours and races

    Publish multi-day tours and club races on the page. These are what livedot can answer about by name.

  5. Share the page

    Pin livedot.me/your-club in the club's group chat and put it on your website and Strava club.

  6. Ask about it yourself

    Add livedot in ChatGPT or Claude and ask as a newcomer would: cycling clubs near your area, and your tour or race by name. If the answer misses something, fix it on your club page or in Get found on livedot.

Pages are set up by hand, in the order requests arrive, so apply early. Windline's help covers what a club or organiser page includes.

What should the club page show?

The answers to a new rider's questions, before they ask.

  • The weekly ride, with its route. Day, time, meeting point and the route itself, so the wind forecast can be timed to it.
  • Your area and sessions, in Get found on livedot, so you're listed for riders near you.
  • The pace. In your pace groups, and in the ride's description: "No-drop, 25 km/h (16 mph) average, regroup at the top of each climb."
  • Who it's for: "Road and gravel, beginners welcome on the B group."
  • Tours and races, published, so they can be found by name and weather.
  • Your logo, colours, website and Strava club, so riders know it's you.

When a ride is cancelled, take it off. A page that matches the group chat is the one newcomers trust.

How do I check what riders will see?

Ask as a stranger would. Add livedot in ChatGPT or Claude (search for livedot, or add https://livedot.me/mcp) and ask for cycling clubs near your area, then about your tour or your next race by name: "What's the route of [your tour]?", "What's the wind for [your race] on Sunday?" Then open livedot.me/your-club in a browser where you're signed out.

Three things to look for:

  • Is every ride there, with the right day and start time in your own time zone?
  • Does each route load with its forecast? A ride without a route has no wind to show.
  • Do your tour notes answer the obvious questions: what to pack, where to meet, how each day runs?

livedot only repeats what your page says, so every fix happens on the page, and the next answer uses it.

How do riders join?

On your page, in a tap. Riders choose Join the club (or Ask to join, if you approve members), sign in or make a free account, and come straight back joined. Then they tap I'm riding on a ride. See Windline's help on joining a club.

The public page shows how many are riding, such as "8 riding", never who. Signed-in members see names and photos. You choose whether anyone can join or you approve each request.

What about race day and club tours?

Your club page becomes the place to watch.

  • Club races: each rider goes live from their own phone, and supporters watch the club's race map in any browser. See live tracking for clubs.
  • Tours and group rides: while you share one with Follow live in Windline, it's live on your page at livedot.me, with the day's route and what's been ridden. It's never listed in livedot's Live now, which is for races.
  • In the chat: anyone can ask livedot how your race is going, how your club is doing in it, or where a rider is if they chose Findable by anyone. While the apps run their demo, try "How are Coast Riders doing in the Coast Classic?", the demo club. "Give the team a tap on the back" sends one tap to each member on the map who takes them.

Does it cost anything?

No. The club page, the rides, live tracking and livedot in ChatGPT and Claude are free for the club and every rider, thanks to ProLend. A running club too? See how to get your running club found in ChatGPT.

Questions

Can ChatGPT or Claude find my cycling club?

With livedot added, they list cycling clubs near a place, such as "a beginner cycling group near Sandton", nearest first, from the clubs' own pages, with a Join button, once your club has its home area in Get found on livedot. They also answer about your published tours and races by name, with the wind on the route.

How does my club get a Windline page?

Apply at windline.tech/pages/#apply. A person at Windline sets up the page and emails you when it's ready. It's also your page at livedot.me/your-club.

Are group rides on livedot's Live now?

No. Live now and search are for races. A group ride or tour is live on your own page at livedot.me while you share it with Follow live in Windline.

Does the public page show who's riding?

Only how many, such as "8 riding". Signed-in members see each other's names and photos on a ride; nobody outside the club does.

What does it cost?

Nothing. The page, the rides and livedot in ChatGPT and Claude are free for the club, its riders and anyone following.
