About the race
The Singapore Marathon, sponsored in recent years as the Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon and, from 2026, as the BYD Singapore International Marathon, is an annual road race held on the first Sunday of December. It is a World Athletics Gold Label Road Race.
History
The first competitive marathon in Singapore took place on 5 December 1982, with an estimated 15,000 people taking part. Of those, only about 2,300 competitive runners needed to register, while the rest joined as joggers. Standard Chartered became title sponsor in 2002, and the race gained its Gold status in 2012. In 2019 the full and half marathons were run in the evening, which caused heavy traffic around the city centre. In 2020 the event went virtual, and in-person racing returned in 2021. The race cap was 55,000 runners in 2025.
Distances
There are four categories: the full marathon, the half marathon, a 10 km run and a 5 km run. A marathon relay for teams of five was added in 2024, along with short races for children, so the event suits families as well as serious runners.
The course
The organiser's home page is for the 2025 race, held over 6 and 7 December 2025. It says the finish line returned to the Padang that year and that routes had been revealed. Check the organiser for the current map.

Weather
Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate, with high humidity and abundant rainfall all year, and temperatures vary little through the seasons. A wetter monsoon season runs from November to February, which includes early December. This is general background, not a forecast.
