livedot.me
Privacy
livedot.me shows live races, club and organiser pages, livedot links and guides from Windline (cycling) and RunFast (running). It’s made by Cross Constellation. This page says what livedot.me itself keeps; your account and your races are kept by the app you use, under its own privacy page.
The short version
- No account on livedot.me, no cookies, no analytics and no ads.
- The people you follow on livedot.me are kept in your browser, on your device.
- Accounts, races, live positions and livedot links are kept by Windline and RunFast: Windline privacy, RunFast privacy. The rules for using livedot are in the Terms of Use.
On your device
livedot.me keeps two things in your browser’s storage, on that device only:
- A random device ID, made once. It isn’t your name and says nothing about who you are.
- The people you follow on livedot.me (up to 20 on each app): who they are on Windline or RunFast, or their livedot link.
If an app’s server doesn’t answer, livedot.me also notes that for five minutes, until you close the tab, so it doesn’t keep asking. Clearing your browser’s data for livedot.me removes all of it.
Following people
- To show the people you follow, livedot.me reads Windline’s and RunFast’s public live pages for them. Your device ID goes with those requests, so that a rider’s or a runner’s block holds against this device.
- Following on livedot.me needs no account, and livedot.me doesn’t save your follows on any server: they stay in your browser.
- A tap on the back you give on livedot.me goes to that person’s app, which handles it as its own privacy page describes.
livedot links (livedot.me/name)
- A livedot link shows what that person’s follow link would show you on their public races, race by race, under the choices they made for each race. Private races never appear on it: not by name, not by date and not live. People following someone on a private race use their follow link, never their livedot link. When they’re not racing: their first name and the first letter of their last name, their photo if they’ve added one, and their upcoming public races with live tracking on.
- Which app a link opens is decided when you tap it, by a small function on livedot.me that asks Windline’s and RunFast’s servers whether the person is racing. It doesn’t store anything about you.
- A handle page can appear in search engines only while that person is Findable by anyone on at least one public race with live tracking on, now or coming up; then it lists only the public races they’re Findable on. The rest of the time, it tells search engines not to show it.
- The list of livedot links is kept by Windline’s server for both apps. What it keeps, and how to change or release your link, is under “Your livedot link” in Windline privacy and RunFast privacy.
Searching and organiser pages
- A name you search is sent to Windline’s and RunFast’s servers to find people who’ve turned on Findable, and clubs, organisers and races. livedot.me doesn’t keep it.
- Club and organiser pages show what those clubs and organisers publish on Windline and RunFast.
- Getting your event live: if you send us your event on the organisers page, your name, email address, organisation, event, sport, website and message go to Windline’s support system, which emails our inbox and sends you a copy. We use them only to reply about your event, and keep them as Windline privacy describes for support requests.
No cookies, analytics or ads
- livedot.me sets no cookies, uses no analytics and shows no advertising.
- The sponsor line comes from Windline’s server. If you tap it, the tap goes through windline.tech, which counts it, then opens the sponsor’s website, whose own privacy policy applies. The sponsor receives no information about you.
- When livedot.me sends you to a race’s live view on windline.tech or runfast.tech, that site’s privacy page applies. Windline’s analytics never record a follow code: an address like windline.tech/f/… is recorded only as “/f”. RunFast counts visits without cookies.
Accounts, races and live positions
Your account, your races, your live positions, your followers and your livedot link are kept by the app you use, Windline or RunFast, not by livedot.me. Their privacy pages say what they keep, for how long, and how to delete it: Windline privacy and RunFast privacy.
livedot.me doesn’t connect to Strava. Windline and RunFast connect to Strava as one app, livedot.
Services livedot.me uses
- Cloudflare: hosts livedot.me and runs its link function. Like any web host, it sees your internet address when a page loads.
- Windline and RunFast: the live races, people, pages and livedot links livedot.me shows.
- OpenFreeMap (the maps), unpkg (the map’s code) and Google Fonts (the lettering): like any website, they see your internet address when they answer. We send them nothing about you.
Children, your rights and changes
- livedot.me isn’t aimed at children under 13. Our Terms of Use (section 2) ask anyone aged 13 to 17 to have a parent’s or guardian’s permission to make an account on Windline or RunFast.
- Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you, and have it corrected or deleted: email [email protected] (or [email protected] for RunFast), and we’ll answer within 30 days. This includes your rights under South Africa’s POPIA, the EU and UK GDPR, and California’s CCPA. If you’re unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
- If we change what livedot.me keeps, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
