About the race
La Sportiva Lavaredo Ultra Trail by UTMB is a mountain race festival in the Italian Dolomites, centred on Cortina d'Ampezzo. The organiser calls it the dream of every trail runner and sets it in a UNESCO World Heritage landscape.
History
The event was born in 2007, and the "by UTMB" tag in its name ties it to the wider UTMB family of events. Cortina d'Ampezzo, its home, hosted events of the 2026 Winter Olympics, which the organiser highlights alongside the scenery.
Distances and the course
Five races are offered. The Lavaredo 120K is the headline event, with 5,800 metres of climbing. The 80K climbs 4,600 metres, the 50K 2,600 metres, the 20K 1,000 metres and the 10K 300 metres. The organiser's pages link to race details, so take the specific passes and landmarks from the official pages.
The 2027 edition
The organiser's race list carries dates in June 2027. The 10K is dated 23 June, the 20K 24 June, the 50K and 120K 25 June, and the 80K 26 June. At the time of reading, the 10K was shown with registrations open.
Entry basics
Each race belongs to a Running Stones category, from category 1 for the 20K up to category 4 for the 120K. Runners create a free My UTMB account to see their statistics, UTMB Index and Running Stones. The organiser offers a form for notifications about opening dates, race dates and extra entries if a race sells out. Consult the race details for cut-off times.
Where to watch
Cortina d'Ampezzo is the base for the festival. The organiser's pages did not give a spectator guide, so supporters should look to the official race information for access points on the mountain and for the safest viewing places.
Weather
Late June in the Dolomites is early summer. Valley days can be warm, while higher ground stays cooler and windy, and afternoon thunderstorms are a familiar feature of the mountains, so conditions can change within a few hours.
