About the race
The Kosmos 3-in-1 is a one-day running event at Lake Umuzi in Secunda that stacks three races into a single 73.3 km challenge. The organiser invites runners to test themselves among the toughest fields on the ultra-marathon circuit.
How it works
Runners start a marathon of 42.2 km at 06:00, line up again for a 21.1 km race at 13:00, and finish with a 10 km race at 17:00. Together that makes 73.3 km. Runners who prefer a different distance can build their own day from the individual races, and a 4 km Fun Run is also held for children and families. The organiser states that individual entries for the three distances do not count as a 3-in-1 entry.
The 2027 edition
The organiser lists the event for 13 March 2027. The start and finish are at the Lake Umuzi south bank on Kingfisher Street in Secunda. A prize pool of R100,000 for the 3-in-1 event is sponsored by Lake Umuzi.
Cut-offs
Each leg has its own cut-off: 12:00 for the marathon, 16:30 for the half marathon and 19:00 for the 10 km. The organiser says the full marathon distance is a Comrades Marathon qualifier.
Entry basics
Entries open in November 2026 and all online entries close on 28 February 2027. Those who enter before 15 February 2027 receive a personalised race number. The 3-in-1 can only be entered online, with no late entries, and includes a free finisher T-shirt. Fun Run entries are taken only at the venue on the Friday and Saturday. The organiser also runs a Ten Years Club for athletes who have completed all three distances over ten years, with a commemorative jacket for the 10th, 15th and 20th race.

Where to watch
Because every leg starts and finishes at the same lake-side venue, spectators can stay in one place and see runners return throughout the day. Check the organiser for other viewing points.
Weather
March is late summer in Secunda, and the day runs from a 06:00 start to a finish after 17:00 for those running all three legs. Runners should expect conditions to change across that long a day and check the forecast closer to the date.
