# livedot > livedot (livedot.me) is a live tracking platform for sports events, anywhere in the world, for cycling and running today: cycling races on Windline (windline.tech), running races on RunFast (runfast.tech). livedot lists races only: Windline's tours and group rides, and RunFast's club runs, keep their own live tracking in those apps and are never listed on livedot. Every entrant is a live dot on one map, with their speed or pace, their finish time and the weather where they are, and family, friends and fans follow in any browser and give them a tap on the back. Organisers get their event live, and a page at livedot.me/, through the form at https://livedot.me/organisers. Free for everyone, thanks to the platform sponsor ProLend. A Cross Constellation company, made in Cape Town. Launched October 2026. ## What livedot does - **Follow anyone, live:** the person's dot on the course, the distance done and to go, their speed (cycling) or pace (running), when they'll finish and when they were last seen. It works in any browser, with no app and no account. - **The weather where they are:** for cyclists, the course is coloured by the wind at the hour the rider reaches each stretch (tailwind, side-on, headwind), with a "Wind here" reading. For runners, by how hard the heat makes each stretch at their pace, with a "Heat here" reading. Forecasts come from Apple Weather. - **Their goal:** a rider or runner can set a goal time. Followers see a "ghost" on the map where someone exactly on goal would be, the words "4 min ahead of goal" or "2 min behind goal", and the finish time if the gap holds. - **A tap on the back:** anyone following can send one, once a minute; the person feels it on their phone. Signed in, the tapper's name shows ("Thandi M."). Not signed in, it counts anonymously, and signing in later puts the tapper's name on the taps they already gave in the last 30 days. Followers can send a congratulation for 24 hours after the finish. - **Find someone by name:** riders and runners who switch on "Findable by anyone" can be found by name. Everyone else is followed only with the link they share. - **Race and club maps:** a race's whole field on one map, or a club's riders and runners on its races. - **Your people:** the people a visitor follows, with whoever is live first, then who starts next, then who just finished. ## Use it - [livedot.me](https://livedot.me/): search for a rider, a runner, a race or an organiser across both apps. - **Follow someone:** open the link they shared (windline.tech/f/… for a rider, runfast.tech/f/… for a runner). - **Try a live demo, any time** (simulated riders and runners, labelled as demos): - [Coast Classic, cycling (Windline)](https://windline.tech/live/race/coast-demo): the whole field live, with the wind on the course; follow any rider, such as [Thandi](https://windline.tech/f/demo) with her goal. - [Comrades, running (RunFast)](https://runfast.tech/live/race/comrades-demo): the whole field live, with the heat on the course; follow any runner, such as [Megan](https://runfast.tech/f/demo) with her goal. - **An example organiser page:** [livedot.me/example](https://livedot.me/example): the two demo races live on its map, with what's next and what's been. ## For organisers and race directors: get your event live - **What an event gets:** every entrant on one map, live; the weather where each one is (the wind for riders, the heat for runners); followers anywhere, in any browser, with no app or account; goals with a ghost, and taps on the back; a page at livedot.me/ with its races (what's live, what's next and what's been), for cycling and running on one page. Free for organisers, entrants and followers, thanks to ProLend. - **How it works:** the organiser tells livedot about the event; a person replies by email and sets up the page and the race with them. Entrants use the free app for their sport (Windline for cycling, RunFast for running), join the race, choose who can see them, can set a goal time, and go live from their phone on the day. Tracking stops by itself at the finish. - **Privacy for entrants:** each chooses who sees them (people they approve, anyone with their link, their club's members, and, only if they switch it on, anyone who searches their name). Never an email address or phone number on show. - **Contact:** the form at https://livedot.me/organisers ("Get your event live"). It reaches the team at hello@windline.tech, the inbox livedot shares with Windline. Organiser pages: livedot.me/ (a Windline organiser or club page is also at windline.tech/o/ or windline.tech/c/, and a RunFast club page at runfast.tech/c/). ## The two apps - **Windline, for cycling** (https://windline.tech): wind and weather forecasts for cycling tours, stage races and group rides, timed to where the group will be. Fly the route in 3D before riding it, rate every day Good, Fair or Tough, and go live on race day. More: https://windline.tech/llms.txt - **RunFast, for running** (https://runfast.tech): the heat, humidity, dew point and wind timed to a runner's own pace along their route, plus races with goals and live tracking. More: https://runfast.tech/llms.txt - **Apps:** - Android: Windline from https://windline.tech/android and RunFast from https://runfast.tech/android (both in testing on Google Play). - iPhone: both submitted to the App Store, October 2026. - Web: https://app.windline.tech and https://runfast.tech/app. One free account per app: Apple, Google, or email and password, with a first and last name. ## Privacy - Riders and runners choose who sees them: anyone with their link, their club's members, people they approve, and, only if they switch it on, anyone who searches their name. - On private events, positions near the start and finish are never shown, and only the person sees their own times. - Raw positions are deleted after 7 days. A race's line and the names on taps are kept for 30 days, then only a summary and the count. - livedot never shows an email address or phone number. - Units: in the apps, each person's own setting (km or miles). On public pages, by where the device is (miles in the US, the UK, Liberia and Myanmar). - Privacy pages: https://windline.tech/privacy and https://runfast.tech/privacy.html ## Help and contact - Windline help: https://windline.tech/support/ (email hello@windline.tech) - RunFast help: https://runfast.tech/support/ (email hello@runfast.tech) - Organisers, race directors and clubs: https://livedot.me/organisers (Get your event live) - Sponsorship: livedot, Windline and RunFast are free because of their platform sponsor, ProLend. Sponsors can reach out through https://windline.tech/support/sponsor-windline/ ## Optional - Windline live races, how following and taps work: https://windline.tech/support/follow-live/ - Windline organiser and club pages: https://windline.tech/support/club-and-organiser-pages/ - RunFast follow a runner: https://runfast.tech/follow ## Guides Guides on following, sharing, organising and race weather, at https://livedot.me/guides/. Each with its short answer: ### Following live - [What is a tap on the back? Cheers that reach their phone](https://livedot.me/guides/taps-on-the-back/): A tap on the back is a cheer you send from someone's live page on Windline or RunFast. Their phone buzzes, and they see how many taps they've had, with the names of people who were signed in. Anyone who can see them can send one, once a minute, with no account, and for 24 hours after the finish. - [How to find someone in a race by name](https://livedot.me/guides/find-someone-in-a-race-by-name/): Type at least 3 letters of their name into the search on livedot.me, which looks through cycling and running races at once, or on windline.tech/follow for riders and runfast.tech/follow for runners. Tap Follow. Only people who switched on Findable by anyone for their race show up, so if they're not there, ask them for their link. - [How to track a cyclist live in a race or sportive](https://livedot.me/guides/track-a-cyclist-in-a-race/): Ask the rider for their Windline link (windline.tech/f/…) and open it in any browser. You see their dot on a satellite map, their speed, their finish time, the wind where they are and the wind on the road ahead, with no app or account. If they chose Findable by anyone, search their name on livedot.me or windline.tech/follow. - [How to track a runner in a marathon or ultra, live](https://livedot.me/guides/track-a-runner-in-a-marathon/): Ask the runner for their RunFast link (runfast.tech/f/…) and open it in any browser. You see them on the course with their pace, their finish time, the heat where they are and how they're doing against their goal. If they chose Findable by anyone, search their name on livedot.me or runfast.tech/follow. No app or account needed. - [How to cheer someone on in a race when you can't be there](https://livedot.me/guides/cheer-someone-on-remotely/): Follow them live from their link, then give them a tap on the back from their page: their phone buzzes and they see the count, with your name if you're signed in. It's one tap a minute, with no app or account. Save longer messages for before the start and after the finish, and tap Congratulate when they're done. - [How to track someone in a race, live on a map](https://livedot.me/guides/track-someone-in-a-race/): Open the live link they send you (windline.tech/f/… for a cyclist, runfast.tech/f/… for a runner) in any browser. You see their dot on the course, their speed or pace, their finish time and the weather where they are, with no app or account. If they switched on Findable by anyone, search their name on livedot.me. ### Sharing your position - [How to stop someone following your live tracking](https://livedot.me/guides/stop-someone-following-you/): In the Windline or RunFast app, open your followers and tap Remove next to them, then Block so they can't follow you again. People who only opened your link in a browser aren't in that list: reset your link to cut them off. Switch off Findable by anyone so nobody can find you by name. - [What happens to live tracking when you lose signal](https://livedot.me/guides/live-tracking-no-signal/): Nothing is lost. With no signal, the Windline or RunFast app keeps every position on the phone and sends them all once the signal is back, so the line fills in. Meanwhile followers see No signal and when the person was last seen, and the page updates by itself when positions arrive again. - [Garmin LiveTrack alternative for race day](https://livedot.me/guides/garmin-livetrack-alternative/): Garmin LiveTrack shares your location, pace and distance from a compatible Garmin device through the Garmin Connect app, free on compatible products. For a race, livedot (through Windline or RunFast) needs only your phone, and adds the course, a live finish time, a goal ghost, the weather where you are, race maps, name search and taps on the back. - [Strava Beacon alternative for race day](https://livedot.me/guides/strava-beacon-alternative/): Strava Beacon sends up to three safety contacts a link to your live location while you record in the Strava app, free on your phone. For a race, livedot (through Windline or RunFast) adds the course, your finish time, a goal ghost, the weather where you are, name search and taps on the back, for anyone with your link. - [How to go live on race day, step by step](https://livedot.me/guides/go-live-on-race-day/): Tap the reminder before the start, or open the race in the Windline or RunFast app and tap Go live, then Start live tracking. Allow location while using the app, and on Android let the app run in the background. Pocket the phone: it sends your position every 30 seconds and stops by itself at the finish. - [How to get friends and family following you in a race](https://livedot.me/guides/get-friends-and-family-following-you/): Turn on live tracking for your race in Windline or RunFast, then send your follow link, or its share picture, to the people you want watching. They open it in any browser, with no app or account, and see your dot, your finish time and the weather where you are. Send it again on race morning. - [Live tracking for races compared: Garmin, Strava, Find My](https://livedot.me/guides/live-tracking-apps-compared/): For a training ride or run, Strava Beacon, Garmin LiveTrack, Find My and Google Maps all share where you are. For a race, livedot (through Windline or RunFast) adds the course, your finish time, a goal ghost, the weather where you are, race maps, name search and taps on the back, with followers in any browser. Each has limits. - [Race-day phone checklist for live tracking](https://livedot.me/guides/race-day-phone-checklist/): The night before, charge to full, check live tracking is on for the race, allow notifications and location while using the app, and on Android set the app's battery use to Unrestricted. On race morning, resend your link and pack a power bank. At the start, tap Start live tracking and don't swipe the app away. - [Live tracking privacy: who can see you during a race](https://livedot.me/guides/live-tracking-privacy/): Only the people you choose. By default, people with your link see you while you're live, and nobody can find you by name unless you switch on Findable by anyone. You can share with your club, approve or remove followers, reset your link and stop at any time. The positions your phone sends are deleted after 7 days. - [How to share your live location in a race](https://livedot.me/guides/share-your-live-location-in-a-race/): Add your race in the free app for your sport (Windline for cycling, RunFast for running), turn on live tracking, choose who can see you and send your link. On race day, tap Start live tracking and pocket your phone. Followers open your link in any browser, with no app or account. Tracking stops at the finish. ### For organisers - [Live tracking for clubs: your members on one race-day map](https://livedot.me/guides/live-tracking-for-clubs/): Add the race to your club in Windline or RunFast. Members tap I'm riding (Windline) or I'm in (RunFast), set their own live tracking and go live on the day. The club's race map shows every member who chose to be seen, by distance, and supporters open one link in any browser. Clubs get a page through livedot's form. - [Live tracking for race organisers: your field on one map](https://livedot.me/guides/live-tracking-for-race-organisers/): Tell livedot about your event on livedot.me/organisers, and a person sets up your page and race with you. Entrants use the free app for their sport (Windline for cycling, RunFast for running), choose who sees them and go live on the day. Fans follow in any browser. It's free for everyone, thanks to ProLend. ### Event previews - [NYC Marathon 2026 weather: what race day will likely feel like](https://livedot.me/guides/nyc-marathon-2026-weather/): Race day at the New York City Marathon (Sunday 1 November 2026) is usually cool and dry: about 14° at a 10:20 start and 15° at a four-hour finish, with a westerly breeze.
